Record electrical signals from living plants!

Make plant bioelectricity visible. The Plant SpikerBox records slow electrical responses from plants and displays them in our free Spike Recorder app.

Begin with the easy-to-observe touch responses of Sensitive Mimosa or Venus flytraps, then investigate electrical wound responses in plants such as basil and tomato.

Go even further with plant-to-plant communication: connect two plants and use the electrical response from one to trigger movement in the other, for example, using a Venus flytrap’s signal to make a Sensitive Mimosa fold its leaves.

Recommended for: Grade 6+ classrooms, makerspaces, science fairs, introductory plant physiology labs, and curious experimenters.
